Please Help Martin's Cause
Imagine what it would be like to be unable to move or to communicate with your family and friends. Martin went from a family, sport and fun loving father … to a mute shell; overnight. He went to sleep whole and woke up living a surreal nightmare.
Martin Kane (Kano) is originally from Springburn in Glasgow, but now lives in Perth, Australia, with his wife and two children. Last November, Kano suffered a sudden attack of Devic’s Syndrome, an extremely rare neurological condition, which has left him very severely disabled.
Kano has now been in an Oz hospital for over ten months and our objective is to bring him home for Christmas 2009.
In a show of unprecedented solidarity, Celtic supporters and friends of Celtic worldwide are actively raising funds necessary to adapt his home to allow Martin to come home to his family in Oz and watch his beloved Hoops once again on TV.
Work is well underway on Martin and Carolyn's house in readiness for his homecoming.
To date the global fund has raised over £40k and is well on the way to reaching our target of £50k. In the UK alone we have transferred £27k to Oz.
We are now in the final push for our campaign with our bucket collection outside Celtic Park on October 17th, The Shebeen concert on 31st October and our BIG FINALE RACE NIGHT on Novmber 14th. Details to be announced soon.
Your ongoing help and assistance is appreciated in these events.
The dream of bringing Martin Home for Christmas 2009 is fast becoming a reality but only with your help!!
If you are unsure and or just want to know more please watch the video of Martin and read his story to see how fragile a meaningful life can be.
Martin spent last Christmas in hospital; we do not want this repeated this year.
